A Break from Gravity
Time spent is time earned. This time is mine and happily burned.
New sketches still either incomplete or barely started. These will be
sorted once more finished.

  Eye Plus
Random face. No
reference. I just started
drawing the eye and
started adding to it...
Touch01
Adjusted the pose.
Revised some details.
Detailed some sections.
Touch01
This whole image is
predicated upon the
moment where his
fingers touch her skin
and she puts her
hands on his ...
Tango01
Clothes make the man...
and woman. Details
hide the devil. Soon
enough, i hope for this
sketch to be done....and
maybe transferred to
canvas.
Tango01
Revisions, clothes and
some ideas played out.
The dude needs a
jacket, they both needs
hair and shoes. It shall
be done.
Tango01
After thinking on the
physics & biology, i
decided her arm would
likely have popped out
of socket if held up
that way. Also, to hold
her balance better, he
really would have had
to reach behind her
with at least a
forearm. All these
thoughts led to
moving him in closer
and adjusting the pic.
Tango01
The previous pic was a
scan with over-laid
lines to make them
show up better.
Twisted the girl's torso
and attempted to fine-
tune some of the lines.
May need a model to
see this properly.
Tango01.
This is the rough of the
first of many. After the
last sketch's variations, i
decided a series of tango
paintings need to
happen. First things
first, i have to see if i
can draw a tango...
Don't Let Me Go
The previous pic was a
scan with over-laid
lines to make them
show up better. This is
the original + some
detail-work
Don't Let Me Go
Ref Rambles on
1/25/2012. This is the
first sketch i've done
in months. It changed
five times over from a
quiet moment to an
intimate dance and
back to around again.
After a while, i
decided the dancing
ones need their own
series.
Subway
Random girl I saw at
subway. She had
striking features,
interesting hair and a
batch of other
memorable details.
She was the first
inspiration to start
drawing this year.
Amidst numerous
projects (work and
personal), this painting
came to mind. It was
originally thought of to
be the replacement for
a long lost landscape
painting i did in college
but then (like a lot of
my work) the characters
took the foreground.
Arms are
disproportionate to
their heads and bodies
but it gives the idea of
what is happening.
I still wanted a
landscape in the
background but
couldn't feel it. Now,
these lovebirds are
standing in a
gazebo...haven't
decided if it'll be
raining outside or
simply all greenery. I
laid out some lines to
frame the gazebo but
detailing will have to
wait until i can do
some more research
I put some
place-holders (colors)
for the background
and wood shades.
Detailed the
characters,
proportioned. Also,
adjusted the frame of
the gazebo some more.
Couldn't decide on a
simple bar or
something round and
ornate. Decided on
going simple to keep
the attention on the
characters.
Finally started putting
paint to canvas last
night. Whited
everything but the
characters and the top
of the gazebo. Also
added a flat layer of
skin-tone. Tonight,
added some shading
on his body, defined
the frames, colored
the background sky
and gave her hair a
color for the sake of
covering the pencils.

Still deciding on skin
tones but i finally
figured on the
light-source. Originally,
this was going to be
daytime,
outdoors/garden-scen
e..then added the
gazebo..then thought it
would be a its a back to
being daytime. Light
coming in from behind
and all sides. Haven't
painted that in yet.
Added shadoes and
some mid-tones.
Decided the
light-source will be
directly behind them
and slightly from the
right and left. Plan on
adding some vines and
small-budded flowers
wrapping the frame of
the gazebo
Minor adjustments
after a day of
touch-ups. Added the
prelims of vines,
darkened the guy's
hair and added
highlights on both
their faces
