TJ was my first actual sit-in model. I was still fairly new at doing realism and
planned on hanging with her most of the day but the sketching was taking so
long, I ended up buying her lunch and dinner. In the end, I only came out
with 3 decent sketches (five total but only 3 worth scanning).
This was the first for the
day. I wanted the subject
laying down and reading or
something of the sort. I
wanted something natural.
. . . and since this was the
first time I was working
with this girl, I wanted a
pose that she could hold
without pulling anything. I
really didn't know how
long it would take.
I called this one Missing
the Pic because I actually
had this whole pose set and
proper. Adjusted the
lighting and all that. In the
end, I got caught up in her
face. I've gotten
compliments as to how this
one looks but I feel bad. It
doesn't quite do justice to
the girl. After getting the
hair done, I decided that
this was the point of the
picture and called the pose
off. Well, that and the fact,
this sketch took up an easy
third of the page as is.
Ok, this one was
going to have a bit
more....attitude,
sensuality, whatever
you want to call it. I've
always held a place in
my hard for the girl
wearing a man's shirt
like that. My model
was wearing shorts
underneath. It all
worked out perfect
with the exception of
the fact we'd been at
this whole exercise for
an easy 6-7 hrs. This
was the last of the day
and both my model
and I were tired by
this point. Thus the
fact its incomplete.
